Abstract:The use of conventional geophysical exploration methods is restricted by complex interference in urban areas. This study employed the three-component microtremor H/V spectral ratio method, which has strong adaptability to environmental conditions and anti-interference ability, for geophysical explora-tion in urban environments.Firstly, the study identified the impact of high and low-frequency abnormal signals of the microtremor H/V spectral ratio method under regular interference sources. Then, the study analyzed the effectiveness of this method in detecting common targets in urban areas, such as dams,under-ground artificial structures,tunnels,soil-rock interfaces, tectonic fault zones, and lithological bounda-ries.The results show that the microtremor H/V spectral ratio method is ideal for detecting layer struc-tures such as soil-rock interfaces, dam tops and bottoms,as well as targets with significant differences in wave impedance such as cement water supply culverts, sewage pipes, and fractured zones. However,in detecting underground cavities such as tunnels in bedrock excavation, although the method can roughly re-flect the position of the roof, the response to the boundary is not clear enough. These research results in-dicate that the three-component microtremor H/V spectral ratio method has great potential for applica-tion in urban geological environments but further improvement and development are still required.
