Abstract:The accuracy of hurricane wind field simulation is of great significance to the hindcast of hurricane wind field. At the present,it is one of more rapid and commonly used methods to construct sea surface wind field of hurricane boundary layer through numerical modeling.By taking IKE,the 8th Atlantic hurricane that invaded the Gulf of Mexico in 2008,as an example, multiple parameter models are selected to compare and study the accuracy of hurricane wind field simulation. The results indicate that the selection of hurricane wind field model has significant influence on the accuracy of hurricane wind field simulation, and the Jelesnianski-1 model can be used for reproducing well the spatio-temporal characteristics of the wind field of Hurricane IKE.In addition, the models with variable coefficients, such as the Holland model and the Miller model, have also good applicability.By adjusting the variable coefficients, the wind profile of the wind field can conform well to that of the actual hurricane.Generally, the wind field constructed based on the ideal models can basically reflect the characteristics of the sea surface wind field in the core area of the hurricane, but the background wind field in the outer area of the hurricane cannot be reflected ideally. However, the analysis or reanalysis wind field data can reflect well the background wind field in the outer area of the hurricane. Therefore, the integration of the wind field data derived from numerical models with the analysis or reanalysis wind field data can significantly increase the numerical simulation accuracy of the sea surface wind field of Hurricane IKE.
