Application of GEO-Radar in Detecting the Shallow Buried Silicified Woods

Abstract：The shallow buried silicified woods have a high collectible and scientific value , but there is no effective way to detect them . The geophysical exploration method is firstly used in the Ma Mountain of Jimo City for the investigation of shallow buried silic-ified woods .On the basis of previous surveys with high density electrical method ,the abnormal points of electrical resistivity are re-detected by using Geo-radar .Considering the regional geological background and the characteristics of silicified wood occurrence , the abnormalities generated by buried silicified woods appear often as small parabola-shaped convexes and mostly concentrate in a 2~6 m depth .These abnormal points are finally tested through drilling holes and the results indicate that Geo-radar can effective-ly detect the shallow buried silicified woods .
