Experimental Analysis of the Influence of Wave Period on Stability of Breakwater Armor Block
Abstract:The scouring and breaking of waves to the structure of sloping breakwaters are affected by many factors, such as wave elements, water depth, slope angle, armor block types, and so on. In studying the armor blocks of some sloping breakwaters, we found that the stability of an artificial block depends mainly on the changes of wave height and wave period when the sectional structure of breakwater is determined. Usually, the value of wave height has been paid enough attention in calculating and designing the armor block stability. However, the effect of wave period on the armor block stability is commonly ignored. This article is, by means of physical model testing, to summarize and analyze the influences of wave period on the armor block stability of the sloping breakwaters, and to provide references for the design of breakwaters.
