A New GPS Beacon Designed for Ocean Subsurface Moorings
Abstract:A new GPS beacon is designed for the ocean subsurface mooring to improve the positioning efficiency and accuracy during the recovering process. The beacon is mainly integrated by a GPS module,a data transmitter,an internal microprocessor module and a pressure switch. When the subsurface moorings are deployed, the beacon is fixed on the subsurface floats and its power is controlled by the pressure switch. While the floats reach the surface of the ocean, the power switches on and the transmitter on the beacon can send out the GPS information processed by the internal microprocessor module. This GPS data is received by the client server in some distance and can be displayed on the personal computer(PC).With the aid of this GPS beacon, users can efficiently get the location of the recovered mooring, which can greatly facilitate its recovery.
