A Study of Berth Allocation with Service Restrictions

Abstract：A river terminal with service restriction due to tidal or sediment deposition problems is under study .However , existing studies focus on the berth allocation in seaports and therefore the results cannot be adopted in operating the river terminal .By proposing an integer programming model , a berth allocation problem with barge berths and vessel berths is analyzed and allocation of berth sections to both barges and vessels are optimized .When additional service time is less than 10%, it contributes to improving the pro-ductivity of the whole terminal by mooring barges at vessel berths .
