Abstract:The consistency of passengers′visual information needs and information supplied by visual cues in virtual waiting plays a role in passengers′way finding behavior .By controlling the consistency of two virtual cues ( dynamic transport timetable & layout of ticket check ) and users′visual needs , a study is conducted into the time to complete the task , time to scan the timetable , and time to act as indicators to e-valuate the function of visual cues in different ways , which provides a scientific basis for visual manage-ment in railway stations .The results show that passengers′performance in wayfinding tasks are better when information sequence on the timetable and users′visual coding needs are kept consistent .Besides, com-pared with layout of sequence and layout of parity , layout of AB is an ideal type of ticket check which can induce passengers′spatial cognition in a relatively short time .
