Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between physical activity motivation and physical activity level in medical students, and analyze the role of Relative Autonomy Index(RAI)and kinesiophobia in the relationship, providing a refer-ence for improving physical activity levels among medical students in relevant universities. Methods A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to survey 1,328 medical undergraduates from the first to the fourth year of study at three universities in Jiangsu Province. The students were surveyed using a physical activity questionnaire, and the mediation effect of RAI and kinesiophobia in the relationship between physical activity motivation and physical activity level was analyzed. Results Pearson correlation analysis revealed that physical activity level was positively correlated with physical activity mo-tivation and RAI(r=0.215,0.244;P<0.05)and negatively correlated with kinesiophobia(r=—0.316,P<0.05).Ki-nesiophobia was negatively correlated with physical activity motivation and RAI(r=-0.282,—0.477;P<0.05).Physi-cal activity motivation was positively correlated with RAI(r=0.474,P<0.05).The results of Model 1 showed that physi-cal activity motivation had a positive predictive effect on physical activity level(β=0.234,P<0.05).The results of Model 2 showed that physical activity motivation had a positive predictive effect on RAI(β=0.462,P<0.05).The results of Model 3 showed that physical activity motivation and RAI negatively predicted kinesiophobia levels(β=—0.068,-0.445;P<0.05).The results of Model 4 showed that physical activity motivation had a positive predictive effect on physical activi-ty level(β=0.128,P<0.05),RAI positively predicted physical activity level(β=0.085,P<0.05),and kinesiophobia negatively predicted physical activity level(β=-0.242,P<0.05).The mediation effect test showed that the direct effect of physical activity motivation on physical activity level was significant(95%CI:0.009-0.027),with an effect value of 0.019.The chain mediation effect of RAI and kinesiophobia between physical activity motivation and physical activity level was significant(95%CI:0.005-0.010),with a mediation effect value of 0.007,accounting for 21.21%of the total effect. Conclusion This study shows the key path through which physical activity motivation in medical undergraduates affects their physical activity level through RAI and kinesiophobia. The discovery of this chain mediation mechanism provides key theoretical and practical evidence for targeted interventions to promote the health level of medical students.
