Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)"Six Heart"nursing model in the massage treatment of elderly cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(CSR),in order to provide a reference for optimizing clinical massage treatment strategies for elderly CSR patients. Methods A total of 134 elderly CSR patients treated at the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2023 to May 2024 were selected. The patients were randomly allocated to an observation group and a control group, with 67 patients in each group. The control group re-ceived massage treatment and conventional nursing interventions, while the observation group received the same treatment as the control group, combined with the TCM"Six Heart"nursing intervention. The cervical function, pain level,psychologi-cal status, quality of life, and degree of satisfaction with nursing were compared before and after the intervention in both groups. Results Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the Neck Disability Index(NDI)score(P>0.05).After the intervention, both groups showed a lower NDI score, and the observation group had a significantly lower score than the control group(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there was no significant differ-ence between the two groups in the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ)visual analog scale(VAS),pain rat-ing index(PRI),and present pain intensity(PPI;P>0.05).After the intervention, all dimensions of SF-MPQ were lower than before the intervention in both groups, with the observation group showing significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in optimism, strength, and perseverance dimensions of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC;P>0.05).After the interven-tion,all dimensions of CD-RISC were higher than before the intervention, with the observation group showing significantly higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey(SF-36)scores for overall health, vitality, physical function, role functioning, bodily pain, social functioning, emotional functioning, and mental health subscales(P>0.05).After the in-tervention,all SF-36 dimension scores showed an increasing trend, and the observation group had significantly higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).The degree of satisfaction with nursing of the observation group was 92.54%(62/67),which was higher than the control group's 80.60%(54/67),with a significant difference(x2=4.107,P=0.043).Conclu-sion The TCM"Six Heart"nursing model applied in the massage treatment of elderly CSR patients shows marked effects. It can effectively improve cervical function, psychological status, and quality of life, alleviate pain, and achieve a higher de-gree of satisfaction with nursing.
