Abstract:Objective This study aims to investigate the current status and influencing factors of nurses' self-perceived compe-tence in hospice care in county-level medical institutions in Zunyi City, providing references for improving hospice care capabili-ties among primary care nurses. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 245 nurses from two county-level medical institutions in Zunyi City using the General Information Questionnaire,Chinese Version of the Self-Perceived Compe-tence in Hospice Care Scale(SPCHCS),Hospice Care Self-Efficacy Scale(HCSES),and Hospice Care Behavior Scale(HCBS).Multiple linear regression was used to analyze influencing factors. Results The mean scores of SPCHCS,HCSES,and HCBS were 238.76±55.16,23.58±8.48,and 38.23±9.86,respectively.Univariate analysis revealed significant differ-ences in SPCHCS scores based on educational level, work experience, marital status, and professional title(P<0.05).Pear-son correlation analysis showed positive correlations between SPCHCS scores and HCSES scores(r=0.693,P<0.001)and HCBS scores(r=0.636,P<0.001).HCSES scores were also positively correlated with HCBS scores(r=0.638,P<0.001).Multiple linear regression identified professional title,self-efficacy of hospice care, and hospice care behaviors as sig-nificant influencing factors for nurses' self-perceived competence(P<0.05).Conclusion Nurses in county-level medical insti-tutions exhibit moderate self-perceived competence in hospice care.Healthcare administrators should leverage the mentorship of senior nurses with advanced professional titles, implement systematic training programs to enhance their self-efficacy,and incentivize hospice care practices to improve competencies and service quality in county-level settings.
