Abstract:Objective To evaluate the analgesic effect of floating needle therapy in the early postoperative period following percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)for lumbar compression fractures. Methods Sixty patients diagnosed with lumbar com-pression fractures who underwent PVP in the ward of the Second Department of Orthopedics of our hospital between March 2023 and August 2024 were enrolled. They were assigned(using a random number table)into a control group(n=30),which received standard postoperative care, and an observation group(n=30),which received floating needle therapy in ad-dition to standard care.Clinical outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results Postoperatively, the observation group demonstrated significantly lower Visual Analog Scale(VAS)pain scores and fewer tender points,as well as signifi-cantly higher lumbar function indices, compared with the control group(P<0.05).Both groups showed significant im-provements in VAS scores and tender point counts from pre-to post-treatment(P<0.05).Japanese Orthopaedic Associa-tion(JOA)scores also improved significantly in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),with the observation group achie-ving higher postoperative scores than the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse events such as rash or itching did not differ significantly between groups(P>0.05).Conclusion In patients undergoing PVP for lumbar compression fractures, floating needle therapy provides effective early postoperative analgesia, improves lumbar function, and has high safety profiles, with favorable clinical outcomes.
