Abstract:Objective To analyze the current status and influencing factors of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis(TB)infec-tion among high school students in Changshou District,Chongqing, and provide a basis for local school-based TB prevention strategies. Methods Latent TB infection screening was conducted among high school students in 9 high schools and 2 voca-tional schools in Changshou District using the tuberculin skin test(TST).Chest DR examination was performed on students with moderate to strong TST positivity.Factors such as gender, age, boarding status, and BMI were investigated, and χ2 tests were used to identify influencing factors. Results A total of 18 027 high school students were screened, with 2 681 cases of latent TB infection, yielding an infection rate of 14.872%.The infection rate increased with grade(χ2=7.17,P=0.028),and was higher in females than males(χ2=11.03,P=0.010).Factors such as BMI>23.9 kg/m2 or<18.5 kg/m2(χ2=8 614.96,P<0.001),previous TB history(χ2=38.96,P<0.001),sleep duration<6 h(χ2=10.169,P<0.001),and outdoor activity time<1 h(χ2=38.64,P<0.001)increased the risk of infection. Conclusion The latent TB infection rate among high school students in Changshou District remains high.Strengthening TB prevention in schools,pro-moting TB knowledge among teachers, students, and parents, and strictly implementing the Guidelines for Tuberculosis Prevention and Control in Chinese Schools(2020 Edition)are essential to reduce infection risks among students.
