Abstract:Objective To assess the interference of paracetamol with six clinical biochemical tests. Methods According to the Clinical&Laboratory Standards Institute(CLSI)EP7-A3 document, the paired difference test and dose-effect test were used to evaluate the interference of paracetamol on alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),creatinine(Cr),uric acid(UA),triglyceride(TG),and glucose(Glu)tests. Results The paired difference test showed that 40 mL/L paracetamol caused positive interference in ALT,AST,Cr,and UA tests, negative interference in the Glu test, and no interference in the TG test. The dose-effect results indicated nonlinear interference of paracetamol in ALT,AST,Cr,UA,and Glu tests. Conclusion Paracetamol interferes with ALT,AST,Cr,UA,and Glu biochemical tests.
