A study of the relationship between health literacy and physical activity in bladder cancer patients based on latent profile analysis

Abstract：Objective The study aims to understand the potential categories of health literacy in bladder cancer patients and to explore the relationship between the categories and physical activity.Methods A convenience sampling method was used to survey 336 bladder cancer patients from December 2023 to June 2024 using the General Information Questionnaire,Health Literacy Management Scale,and International Physical Activity Questionnaire.Potential categories of health literacy were i-dentified using latent profile analysis,and differences in physical activity levels across health literacy categories were ana-lysed by SPSS 26.0.Results The total health literacy score of the patients ranged from 61 to 120(90.23±13.78),and health literacy was classified into 3 categories:low health literacy-low financial support,moderate health literacy-good access to information,and high health literacy-high willingness to improve;35.8%,respectively,52.5%and 11.7%respectively.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that Unmarried(OR=0.099,95%CI=0.019-0.505),rural(OR=25.504,95%CI=2.867-226.862),low literacy(OR=5.406,95%CI=1.056-27.667)and low monthly household income(OR=5.274,95%CI=1.103-25.211)were all influencing factors of health literacy categories.Comparison of physical activity levels among bladder cancer patients with different health literacy categories was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion There are three potential categories of health literacy in bladder cancer patients,health literacy is an important predictor of physical activity in bladder cancer patients,and patients with low physical activity account for a larger propor-tion of the low health literacy-low economic support type,healthcare professionals should give targeted interventions based on the characteristics of the patients'health literacy classification.
