Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of the empowerment psychological nursing model combined with hope theory on disease perception stress, health behavior, and quality of life in patients with colon cancer receiving chemotherapy, aiming to provide a clinical reference. Methods This study selected 88 patients with colon cancer undergoing chemotherapy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2021 to December 2022 as the research participants.Patients were randomly assigned to a conventional group(n=48)and an observation group(n=40)using the random num-ber table method. The conventional group received routine cancer chemotherapy nursing methods. The observation group,in addition to the conventional methods, received interventions based on the empowerment psychological nursing model com-bined with hope theory. The study compared the pre-and post-intervention scores of the Perceived Stress Scale(PSS),De-pression-Anxiety-Stress Scales(DASS-21),Chinese version of the Self Rated Abilities for Health Practices Scale(SRAHP),European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30(EORTC-QLQ-C30),and Chinese version of the Champion's Health Belief Model Scale(CHBMS)between the two groups;and com-pared the degree of satisfaction with nursing of the two groups. Results Before intervention, there was no statistically sig-nificant difference in the subscale scores of PSS and DASS-21 between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the subscale scores of PSS and DASS-21 in both groups decreased significantly compared to before intervention within the same group(P<0.05),and the observation group scores were significantly lower than the conventional group(P<0.05).Be-fore intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in the subscale scores of SRAHP between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the subscale scores of SRAHP in both groups increased significantly compared to before in-tervention within the same group(P<0.05),and the observation group scores were significantly higher than the conven-tional group(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in the subscale scores of EORTC-QLQ-C30 between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the subscale scores of EORTC-QLQ-C30 in both groups increased significantly compared to before intervention(P<0.05),and the observation group scores were sig-nificantly higher than the conventional group(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no statistically significant differ-ence in the scores of CHBMS between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the scores of CHBMS in both groups increased significantly compared to before intervention(P<0.05),and the observation group scores were significantly high-er than the conventional group(P<0.05).The degree of satisfaction with nursing of the observation group was significant-ly higher than the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of the empowerment psychological nursing model combined with hope theory in patients with colon cancer undergoing chemotherapy has good effects, can effectively in-tervene in patients'negative emotions, and improve patients'perceived stress, health behavior, and quality of life, which is worth promoting in clinical practice.
