Abstract:Objective To explore the analgesic effects of wireless remote monitoring analgesia pumps and conventional elec-tronic analgesia pumps in patient-controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA)following total knee arthroplasty in elderly pa-tients,aiming to provide a reference for clinical treatment. Methods A total of 92 elderly patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty and PCIA at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study participants.Patients were randomly assigned to the wireless analgesia group and the conventional analgesia group using a random number table, with 46 cases in each group.Patients in the wireless analgesia group received a wireless remote monitoring analgesia pump via intravenous postoperatively, while those in the conventional analgesia group were connected to a conventional electronic analgesia pump. The resting and movement visual analog scale(VAS)scores at 6,12,24,and 48 hours postoperatively were compared between the two groups;the General Comfort Questionnaire(GCQ)scores on the 1st and 3rd postoperative days were compared;the number of analgesic rescues within 48 hours postoperatively was compared. Moreover, the degree of satisfaction of patients and medical staff at 48 hours postoperatively was compared;and the occurrence of adverse events within 48 hours postoperatively was compared. Results There was no statistically sig-nificant difference in the VAS scores at rest between the two groups at 6,24,and 48 hours postoperatively(P>0.05).The VAS score at 12 hours postoperatively in the wireless analgesia group was significantly lower than that in the conventional analgesia group(P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was noted in the VAS scores during movement between the two groups at 24 and 48 hours postoperatively(P>0.05).The VAS scores at 6 and 12 hours postoperatively in the wireless analgesia group were significantly lower than those in the conventional analgesia group(P<0.05).The GCQ scores on the 1st and 3rd postoperative days in the wireless analgesia group were significantly higher than those in the con-ventional analgesia group(P<0.05).The number of analgesic rescues within 48 hours postoperatively in the wireless anal-gesia group and the conventional analgesia group were(11.25±1.45)times and(12.05±2.53)times,respectively,with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).The overall degree of satisfaction of patients in the wireless analgesia group was significantly higher than that in the conventional analgesia group(P<0.05).The overall degree of satisfaction of medi-cal staff in the wireless analgesia group was also significantly higher than that in the conventional analgesia group(P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was observed in the total incidence of adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The application of wireless remote monitoring analgesia pumps in PCIA has advantages over tradi-tional analgesia pumps. It effectively promotes the analgesic effect, comfort, and degree of satisfaction of both patients and medical staff and has a high safety profile, making it valuable for clinical application.
