Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between self-hiding,benefit finding, and social deterioration in elderly pa-tients with type 2 diabetes in the community,in order to provide a reference for decision-making to improve the psychologi-cal health of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of 215 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes from three communities in Chengdu were surveyed using a general information questionnaire,Self-Hiding Scale,Benefit Finding Ques-tionnaire for Elderly Patients with Chronic Diseases, and Social Deterioration Scale.Pearson correlation was used for corre-lation analysis, and Process 4.0 software's Model 4 was adopted for mediation analysis. Results The total score of the Self-Hiding Scale for elderly patients with type 2 diabetes was(35.26±2.92)points,the total score of the Benefit Finding Ques-tionnaire for Elderly Patients with Chronic Diseases was(64.84±8.78)points,and the total score of the Social Deteriora-tion Scale was(1.72±1.35)points.Correlation analysis showed that self-hiding in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes was positively correlated with social deterioration(r=0.812,P<0.05);benefit finding was negatively correlated with social de-terioration(r=-0.619,P<0.05).Benefit finding in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes played a partial mediating role between self-hiding and social deterioration, the mediating effect was 0.064,and the mediating effect accounted for 16.97%of the overall effect. Conclusion Self-hiding and social deterioration are common in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes, and benefit finding needs to be further improved. The community should strengthen regular assessment of elderly patients, take targeted measures, promote psychological health status, and increase their quality of life.
