Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of the continuing nursing model based on the Knowledge,Attitude,Behavior, and Practice(KABP)theory in the postoperative rehabilitation in patients underwent gastric cancer radical surger-y.Methods A total of 124 gastric cancer patients underwent gastric cancer radical surgery at Chengdu 363 Hospital Affilia-ted of Southwest Medical University, from January to December 2022 were selected, who were randomly assigned to a study group and a control group, with 62 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing intervention, while the study group received nursing intervention based on the continuing nursing model derived from the KABP theory on the basis of the control group. Both groups received continuous intervention for 3 months. The medication compliance, quality of life, nutritional status,self-efficacy,and hope level of the two groups of patients were compared before and after inter-vention.Results Before intervention,no significant difference was observed in the scores of the eight-item Morisky Medica-tion Adherence Scale(MMAS-8),Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile Ⅱ(HPLP-Ⅱ),and Quality of Life Questionnaire Gastric Cancer Module(EORTC QLQ-STO22)between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the QLQ-STO22 scores of both groups were lower than before the intervention, and the study group had lower scores than the control group. The MMAS-8 and HPLP-Ⅱ scores were significantly increased after intervention, and the study group had significantly higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before intervention,no significant difference was observed in body mass index(BMI),triceps skinfold thickness(TSF),and serum albumin(Alb)levels between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the BMI and TSF of both groups were higher than before intervention, and the study group had higher values than the control group;the serum Alb level was higher than before the intervention, and the study group had higher values than the control group, all with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Before intervention,no significant difference was found in the scores of the General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES)and Herth Hope Index(HHI)between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the GSES and HHI scores of both groups were signifi-cantly higher than before the intervention, and the study group had significantly higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The continuing nursing model based on the KABP theory can effectively raise medication compliance,al-leviate postoperative pain, potentiate postoperative nutritional status, promote postoperative self-efficacy and hope level, and effectively increase postoperative quality of life in patients undergoing gastric cancer radical surgery.
