Application effect of Omaha system-based continuing breast surgery nursing in breast cancer patients

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of Omaha system-based continuing breast surgery nursing in breast cancer patients,in order to provide support for clinical treatment.Methods A total of 106 breast cancer patients who visi-ted the Breast Surgery Department of the Guangxi Medical University Cancer Hospital from July 2021 to July 2022 were se-lected as the study participants.The Omaha system-based continuing breast surgery nursing was employed to intervene in the patients.The occurrence of breast cancer-related lymphedema(BCRL)was observed at 4 weeks(T0),12 weeks(T1),and 24 weeks(T2)of intervention.The Exercise Adherence Questionnaire(EAQ),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey(SF-36)scores were collected at T0,T1,and T2 of intervention.Results The inci-dence of BCRL at T1 and T2 of intervention was significantly lower than that at T0(P<0.05).At T1 and T2 of intervention,the subscale(physical exercise and seeking advice)and total scores in EAQ were significantly higher than those at T0(P<0.05).At T1 and T2 of intervention,the scores of bodily pain,vitality,general health,physical functioning,physical role,mental health,emotional role,and social functioning in SF-36 were significantly higher than those at T0(P<0.05).Conclu-sion The application of Omaha system-based continuing breast surgery nursing in breast cancer patients demonstrated sig-nificant effects,which can alleviate patients'negative emotions,reduce the incidence of BCRL,and raise patients'exercise adherence and quality of life,holding promise for a wider clinical application.
