Personalized health education combined with ear acupoint bean pressing nursing in elderly patients with vertigo

Abstract：Objective This paper aims to explore the effect of personalized health education combined with ear acupoint bean pressing nursing in elderly patients with vertigo to provide evidence for clinical treatment.Methods Overall,82 patients with senile vertigo from January 2020 to February 2022 in the Department of Encephalopathy of Pingdingshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected as the study participants.They were allocated to the control group(n=41)and the observation group(n=41)using a random number table.Participants in the control group received ear acupoint bean pressing nursing,and those in the observation group received personalized health education based on the control group.At discharge,the Chinese version of Vertigo Symptom Scale(VSS-C)and the Chinese Revision of Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS-CR)were used to assess vertigo and anxiety,respectively.Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)was used to evalu-ate the sleep status of patients before and after treatment(after treatment defined as at discharge).Results The degree of vertigo in the observation group was significantly less severe than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The anxiety of pa-tients in the observation group was significantly less severe than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,no significant difference was observed in sleep quality,sleep onset time,sleep duration,and sleep efficiency scores in PSQI be-tween the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the sleep quality,sleep onset time,sleep duration,and sleep efficiency score in PSQI in the two groups were significantly decreased,and the observation group was significantly lower than the con-trol group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Personalized health education combined with ear acupoint bean pressing nursing is effec-tive in elderly patients with vertigo,which can reduce the degree of vertigo,alleviate anxiety,and promote the sleep quality of patients.These advantages hold promise for a wider clinical application.
