Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of a rehabilitation nursing program based on the volume viscosity swallow test-Chinese version(VVST-CV)in patients with dysphagia after acoustic neuroma surgery. Methods A total of 80 patients who developed dysphagia after undergoing acoustic neuroma surgery at the Neurosurgery Department of Xuzhou Cancer Hospital from May 2022 to May 2024 were selected and randomly assigned to the control group(n=40)or the observation group(n=40)using a random number table. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group were given VVST-CV based rehabilitation nursing intervention.Swallowing function, nutritional status, complications and quality of life of were compared between the two groups. Results After the intervention, the score of the video fluoroscopic swallowing study(VFSS)in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the score of the eating assessment tool-10(EAT-10)in the observation group was lower than that in the control group. The levels of prealbumin(PA),albumin(ALB),and transferrin(TF)were all higher in the observation group than those in the control group. The incidence of complications was lower in the observation group than that of the control group(5.0%vs.22.5%).The score of the swallowing-related quality of life questionnaire(SWAL-QOL)in the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The application of VVST-CV based rehabilitation nursing program is effective in improving swallowing function, enhancing nutritional status, reducing complications, and ultimately enhancing quality of life in patients with dysphagia following acoustic neuroma surgery.
