Application of health education based on BOPPPS model in middle-aged and young adults with diabetes

Abstract:Objective To explore the effectiveness of health education based on BOPPPS model in middle-aged and young adults with diabetes.Methods The middle-aged and young adults with diabetes admitted to the Department of Endocrinology at Binzhou Medical University Hospital were selected by convenience sampling method.A total of 56 patients hospitalized from January to April 2023 were assigned to the control group,receiving conventional health education.A total of 56 patients hospitalized from May to August 2023 were included in the experimental group,receiving health education based on the BOPPPS model.Blood glucose levels,self-efficacy and self-management behavior were compared between the two groups one month after the intervention.Results One month after the intervention,the levels of self-efficacy and self-management in the experimental group were greater than those of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of FBG and 2h PBG were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions Health education based on the BOPPPS model is effective in improving self-efficacy and self-management ability in middle-aged and young adults with diabetes,thereby improving glycemic control.The BOPPPS model can be popularized and applied in health education for this patient population.
