Abstract:The rapid development of artificial intelligence(AI)technology has enabled increasingly precise segmentation of brain MRI in fetuses, infants, and children. In recent years,AI-based segmentation methods for structural and functional MRI during the early stages of brain development, from fetus to childhood, have advanced continuously.Techniques such as machine learning, convolutional neural networks(CNNs),transformers, and general foundation models have achieved remarkable improvements in segmentation accuracy, efficiency, and robustness, and have shown great potential for clinical applications. This review summarizes recent advances in AI-based segmentation of fetal, infant, and pediatric brain MRI,highlights current limitations and challenges, and discusses prospects for future development.
