Abstract:Objective To examine the correlation between diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)parameters and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA),microvascular density(MVD)in clear cell renal cell carcinoma(ccRCC).Methods A total of 95 ccRCC patients, confirmed by surgical pathology, with an average age of(51.9±15.3)years were retrospectively collected. All patients underwent preoperative renal DTI examination and DTI parameters were measured.Immunofluorescence staining was used to label PCNA and MVD in ccRCC.According to the Fuhrman grading system, patients were divided into well-differentiated(40 cases),moderately differentiated(30 cases),and poorly differentiated(25 cases)groups.One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences among the three groups, and Pearson correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the correlation between DTI parameters and PCNA,MVD.Results In the well-differentiated group, the apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)and fractional anisotropy(FA)values were higher than those in the moderately and poorly differentiated groups, and the ADC and FA values in the moderately differentiated group were higher than those in the poorly differentiated group(all P<0.05).The PCNA and MVD values in the poorly differentiated group were higher than those in the well-differentiated and moderately differentiated groups, and the PCNA and MVD values in the moderately differentiated group were higher than those in the well-differentiated group(all P<0.05).ADC was moderately negatively correlated with PCNA and MVD(r=-0.538,-0.563);FA was also moderately negatively correlated with PCNA and MVD(r=-0.415,-0.427).Conclusion The DTI parameters of ccRCC are negatively correlated with PCNA and MVD,suggesting that ADC and FA values are negatively correlated with angiogenesis and proliferation in ccRCC.DTI parameters can be used to assess the biological behavior of tumor cells and provide a basis for patient prognosis.
