Abstract:Cognitive dysfunction is a common complication of type 2 diabetes(T2DM).Cerebral microvascular dysfunction is one of the pathogeneses of cognitive impairment in T2DM,with cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)being its main manifestation.Currently,MRI is a common technology for detecting CSVD,including conventional MRI,diffusion weighted imaging, susceptibility weighted imaging, etc. The MRI features of CSVD include lacunar infarction, white matter hyperintensity, cerebral microbleeds, enlarged perivascular spaces, and cerebral atrophy. These MRI features are closely related to cognitive dysfunction in T2DM.This review explores the pathogenesis and MRI research progress of cognitive impairment in T2DM with CSVD.
