Abstract:Meningioma pathological classification is extremely complex, reflecting the diversity and complexity of its pathogenesis. The majority of meningiomas have good resectional outcome, few of them are invasive and have high recur-rence.It is suggested that the risk factors of meningioma recurrence are related to pathological classification.Various physical and chemical factors, genetic factors, estrogen factors and other factors may play important roles in the development of menin-giomas.In addition, the theory of intracranial collision tumor can explain the meningioma under the osteoma or bony promi-nence of the inner table of the skull to some extent. The imaging examination is of great significance for the preoperative pre-diction of the pathological classification of meningiomas, the evaluation of the disease and the formulation of the operation scheme. This review summarizes the pathogenesis and biological behavior of meningiomas,as well as the related progress in MRI diagnosis.
