Abstract:The detection rate of thyroid nodules is increasing year by year with the promotion of ultrasonic technology and the popularization of examination.Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology(US-FNAC)has been the main pre-operative diagnostic basis due to its high sensitivity and specificity, simplicity and safety, few complications and other advan-tages.US-FNAC also reduces some unnecessary surgeries.Although FNAC has high diagnostic rate and is widely used,it still has some limitations. One of the most important points is that no satisfactory specimens can be obtained. The collected samples have a great influence on the cytological examination results. The factors that influence the collection of satisfied specimens and the corresponding solutions are briefly summarized.
