Abstract:The skeleton system mainly contains short T2 tissues, which usually shows low or no signal in conventional magnetic resonance imaging. Ultra-short echo time (UTE) is the most frequetly used imaging techinique in the study of short T2 tissues, which can display high signal on the images. We reviewed the basic principle of UTE imaging technology and sum-marizedits specific application in the cortical bone, periosteum, tendon and ligament, articular cartilage, meniscus, and carti-lage endplate.
