Abstract:Temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (TLE-HS)is a common epilepsy type clinically treat-ed with surgery. Therefore, accuracy of positioning epileptogenic foci is highly important. MRI can clearly present lesions. Especially in ultra-high field makes MRI possible to display the hippocampal ultramicro-structure in the early phase of diseases. Multiple functional MRI including BOLD-fMRI, MR spectroscopy, diffusion-weighted imaging, and diffusion ten-sor imaging have their own strength in diagnosis. In this article we reviewed the value of MRI in the diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis.
