Abstract:The clivus is a wide and thick bone and centrally and deeply located in the skull base surrounded by complex structures. The clival lesions have a wide spectrum, and diagnosis of clival lesions is challenged due to the similarity of clinical manifestations among the various diseases. Imaging plays an important role in establishing a diagnosis in clival lesions. CT and MRI can better display calcification in lesions, bone destruction, the tumor morphology, and tumor infiltration into surrounding tissue. In accordance with the primary location of the clival lesions, we divided it into primary and secondary types, and introduced its imaging manifestations to improve the diagnosis and understanding of clivus diseases.
