Abstract:Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) shows a progressive deterioration of symptoms, even death. The pathophysiological alterations involve the pulmonary vascular remodeling, hemodynamic changes of pulmonary circulation, and cor pulmonale. Computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) can be used to dynamically monitor the pathological changes of COPD by measuring the diameters of the pulmonary arteries and the right ventricular, and observing the situation of the lung and chest cavity. CTPA also can diagnose and evaluate the severity of the disease, by providing information of the right heart's change. By combining with ultrasonography and MRI, CTPA may provide more information for clinical treatment decisions. This review focuses on the application of CTPA in COPD.
