Abstract:Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is an imaging technique which utilizes the phase data of magnetic resonance imaging to detect magnetic sensitive material in vivo and to measure the susceptibility value. Because of the post-processing method was different from that of susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI), the QSM has more accurate magnetic susceptibility quantification and higher tissue contrast than SWI. In recent years, QSM has achieved rapid development in the studies of central nervous system. This paper aimed to summarize the research progresses in the studies of iron deposition of deep brain nuclei in neurodegenerative diseases, the mechanism of cerebral white matter lesions, identification of calcifications and hemorrhage, indication of brain microstructure etc, in order to improve the understanding of QSM and broaden its scope of research.
