Application of new MRI technology in lung and airway diseases
HOU Qiaoru
Abstract:The diagnosis of congenital heart disease ( CHD ) with tracheobronchial anomalies and lung lesions is mainly relied on CT, but MRI has advantages over CT because of no ionizing radiation and high soft tissue resolution. Recently, the emerging of new MRI technology and sequences gradually overcomes the limitations of traditional MR sequences in demonstrating lung and airway lesions. The sequences of 3D-TFE and 3D-B-TFE can clearly show the airway, and ultrashort echo time pulse sequences are mainly used in lung imaging. These advantages of new MR sequences make it possible to use MR in tracheobronchial anomalies and lung lesions in patients with CHD, and to further implement the safety, noninvasive and efficient diagnosis.
