Abstract:Epilepsy is a brain dysfunction syndrome which is caused bysynchronous abnormal discharge of brain neurons.Repeated seizures can cause cognitive function damage and abnormal behavior. Resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) is a kind of blood oxygenation level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging, which can evaluatethe spontaneous activity of brain at resting state. Currently, a large number rs-fMRI research on epilepsy focus on adult patients, however, the epilepsy etiology, nosogenesis, clinical symptoms, EEG patterns, clinical treatment and prognosis inchildren are not same asthat of adults. This paper mainly summaries the research of rs-fMRI on resting state network in children with epilepsyorcognitive dysfunction, and its application in children who received surgical treatment forepilepsy.
