Abstract:Thyroid disease is a common disease and has the highest incidence rate among endocrine diseases. An early and accurate diagnosis can guide clinical therapy. However, the imaging diagnosis has been always the emphasis and difficulty of clinicians and radiologists. MR diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is sensitive to the water diffusion movements which makes it possible to exam the structural and functional changes of organs. The utility of DWI in diagnosing and monitoring of thyroid diseases is widely recognized. In this article we made a summary on the development of DWI and its application in thyroid disease in recent five years.
