Abstract:Magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is a non-invasive method which can evaluate the movement of water molecules and microcirculation status in living tissue. It can provide relevant information for detecting and staging cancer and evaluating the curative effects. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) obtained from DWI is widely used as a quantitative imaging index for early diagnosis of esophageal cancer, assessing the tumor angiogenesis, accurately staging and grading the tumor, and predicting the chemoradiotherapy response or the changes before and after the treatment. The purpose of this paper was to review the application of DWI in esophagus cancer.
