Abstract:Measuring hepatic tissue blood flow is of great value for the detection of liver tissue lesion progression and monitoring the therapeutic efficacy as hepatic artery and portal venous blood flow vary significantly in the process of liver fibrosis or malignant progression. PET/CT is the most advanced anatomical, functional and molecular imaging equipment that integrates superiorities of PET and CT. We can obtain hepatic artery, portal venous blood flow, and the ratio of each with the help of PET/CT accurately and noninvasively. Particularly the methods for liver blood flow measurement become much simple with the use of image-derived arterial input function, instead of arterial blood sample, hence has been widely used in preclinical and clinical research. This paper mainly introduces the methods for measuring total blood flow, hepatic artery, and portal venous blood flow by using noninvasive PET/CT.
