Abstract:Gliomas are the most common primary malignant brain tumors. Glioma grading is an important factor influencing the choice of therapy and prognosis. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the only function imaging method currently which can be used to non-invasively detect microstructure tissue in vivo. DTI is sensitive to water molecule movement. The movement is less restricted along the direction of white matter axons, and gliomas tumor cell infiltration is mainly along the white matter tracts. The neural axis diffusion rate is 3.7%~5.3%in low-grade gliomas, while it is 10%~27%in high-grade gliomas, therefore DTI has important value in glioma grading. We reviewed relevant DTI studies , and discussed the perspectives of DTI in glioma grading.
