Abstract:Osteoporosis is the most common disease of all metabolic bone disorders. Recently, with the increasing ag-ing of the world population, the number of persons affected by osteoporosis is also increasing. For these reasons, the early as-sessment for osteoporosis is crucial. The commonly used imaging methods such as dual X-ray absorptiometry and quantita-tive ultrasound have many deficiencies. New techniques including quantitative computed tomography, micro-computed to-mography spectral computed tomography, magnatic resonance spectroscopey, iterative dixon water-fat separation with echo asymmetry and Least-squares estimation can be used for estimation. These techniques were reviewed in this paper.
