Abstract:Psoriatic arthritis, closely associated with psoriasis, can result in severe damage of joints. It is characterized by enthesis, synovitis, joint effusion, bone erosion, tenosynovitis, dactylitis, nail lesions and so on. These lesions have specific sonographic manifestations. Ultrasound is an important toll in diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis. A good consistency can be reached by ultrasound and MRI, and the former has a superiority to X-rays, CT and MRI especially in small joints such as psoriatic arthritis by making a real-time and dynamic observation of target sites in early stage of disease. In recent years, applications and sonographic researches in this field have made significant progress. In this article we reviewed the advances of ultrasound in psoriatic arthritis.
