Abstract:Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a special type of chronic inflammation of the pancreas caused by autoimmune abnormality, responds to steroid therapy very well, and it is considered to be pancreatic involvement of IgG4-related disease. Other organs may also be involved, including the bile duct, gallbladder, kidney, retroperitoneal tissue, salivary glands, etc. The main imaging manifestations of AIP are diffuse or localized swelling of the pancreas and irregular stenosis of the pancreatic duct. It is difficult to differentiate AIP from pancreatic cancer and other diseases. Since there is no specific diagnostic methods, AIP usually requires a comprehensive evaluation, thus familiar with the imaging characteristics of the disease is very important for the early diagnosis and treatment.
