Abstract:Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease which is considered to be an autoimmune disorder. In recent years, the detection rate of PBC shows a rising trend due to the improvement of understanding and the progress of technology. Currently, early application of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) therapy can delay the progress of the disease. However, end-stage patients lose effective response to UDCA and critically ill patients require liver transplantation, so early detection and diagnosis of PBC are important in planning treatment, monitoring the severity and progression of the disease and assessing prognosis, etc. In this paper, the research status and progress of MRI in the diagnosis of PBC were reviewed.
