Abstract:Patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy present no abnormalities in routine MRI. It is currently proposed that abnormal structural and functional changes in corticothalamic network play important roles in the pathogenesis of idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Multi-modality neuroimaging can provide information of structure, cerebral blood flow and metabolism of human brain, and can be used to investigate the mechanism of idiopathic generalized epilepsy. The research progresses of corticothalamic network in neuroimaging were reviewed in this article.
