Abstract:A variety of intra- or extra- hepatic diseases could cause iron deposition in liver which might lead to fibrosis and cirrhosis. The existing clinical methods (liver biopsy, laboratory examination, superconducting quantum interference device, MRI and CT) to quantify iron content in liver have their own disadvantages respectively. Meanwhile, CT has been a popular diagnostic method for liver disease, and made considerable development in quantifying liver iron content, including single-energy CT value estimate method, dual-energy CT differential method (ΔH method) and dual-energy CT three-material decomposition algorithm (overlay method). In this paper, we reviewed the current status of technical developments and clinical applications of CT in the quantification measurement of liver iron content.
