Abstract:The diagnosis and prediction of outcome of peripheral nerve diseases is still a challenge. Currently, the examination methods of peripheral nerves include physical examinations, electromyography, and ultrasound. However, the methods mentioned above could not provide an accurate diagnosis of the diseases of peripheral nerves. Meanwhile, some examinations can cause pain to patients, such as electromyography. In the resent years, magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) has been increasingly used in the evaluation of peripheral nerve diseases. It can evalaute the diseases accurately and objectively. MRN is worthy to widely used due to its high resolution. The MRN examination sequences, MRN manifestation of the normal performance and of the common diseases, the new type MR contrast agents for the peripheral nerves of upper limbs were reviewed in this paper.
