Abstract:Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a kind of inflammatory arthritis characterized by secondary osteoporosis (OP), ligament osteophyte formation and osseous stiffness. The AS could case fracture at lumbar spine and femoral neck. Early diagnosis is essential in prevention and control OP in patients with AS. The choice of a proper exam is highly interested by clinicians. In this article we reviewed the recent advances of different imaging methods used for OP diagnosis such as dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), quantitative computed tomography (QCT), quantitative ultrasound (QUS), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
