Abstract:Perfusion imaging with multidetector row computed tomography is a non-invasive tool for assessing of tissue microcirculation in vivo, which can be used to evaluate hemodynamic changes and provide significant data for detecting and staging cancer, and evaluating the curative effects. Computed tomography perfusion parameter could be used as a quantitative imaging index for early diagnosis of esophageal carcinoma, assessing the tumor angiogenesis, accurately staging and grading the tumor, and predicting the chemoradiotherapy response or the changes before and after the treatment. In this paper, we aimed to review the current status of computed tomography perfusion imaging in patients with esophageal cancer and to demonstrate the possible development in the future in this research area.
