Abstract:The oocytes of aging women are more prone to aneuploidy.Oocyte aneuploidy is a significant factor contributing to the reduced fertility in aging women and the unfavorable pregnancy outcomes, including miscarriage, chromosomal abnormalities and birth defects. With the increase of age,the accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in oocytes causes the oxidative stress damage that interferes with the signal transduction of spindle assembly and spindle assembly checkpoints, shortens telomeres and reduces chromosome cohesion. The oxidative stress is therefore an important reason for the increase of aneuploidy of oocytes. We review the relationship between oxidative stress and aneuploidy in oocytes of aging women,in order to provide a reference for saving the fertility of aging women.
