Abstract:Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3), a negative feedback factor of signaling pathways of many cytokines (such as interleukins, interferons, tumor necrosis factor, etc.), plays its suppressive roles mainly through activating the tyrosine kinase pathway and the JAK-STAT pathway. It was found that SOCS3 was involved in many diseases, such as diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, cancer, inflammatory, allergic reactions and many other diseases. So SOCS3 could be used as a molecular marker for the diagnosis and assessment of prognosis of those diseases, even as a potential target gene for some specific diseases.
