Abstract:Uterine septum is the most commonly encountered congenital müllerian anomaly. It leads to infertility, recurent abortion, preterm delivery and premature rupture of membrane, and then affects pregnancy outcome. Surgical correction is required for uterine septum. Transcervical resection of septum (TCRS) is the gold standard for the treatment of uterine septum and the masterpiece of the success of hysteroscopic surgery. Hysteroscopic surgery is minimally invasive, safe and effective methods, which can improve pregnancy outcome significantly. Common complications of hysteroscopy are uterine perforation, fluid overload, bleeding, residual septum, intrauterine adhesions and pregnant uterine rupture secondary to the surgery. This article is intended to explore its causes and prevention. Although complications are rare in the short and long term, they cannot be ignored in clinical practice in order to improve the safety of surgery and further reflect the preponderance of minimally invasive hysteroscopic surgery.
